“Have you done any welding or metal work?”
“Actually I did recently take up welding as a hobby”
“uh… anything get in your eyes?”
“I don’t think so”
“Eh… you should be good”
Well today my Brain MRI did actually happen, and despite the conversation above, luckily no hidden metal chunks went tearing through my eyeball towards the super magnets at 300mph.
I’d had one MRI previously and they had a peaceful LED screen with clouds above you to help calm, and a reassuring metal detector before you entered the room, but this one had nothing like that. Still, with eyes shut and focusing on techniques learned from the mediation book I’m still reading, I’d say it was only a 5/10 in terms of horrible things. Kind of like listening to a bad EDM concert in the middle of a construction site where a space laser battle is happening.
I was in the scanner for maybe 25 minutes and they say results take 3-5 business days.
My doctor has already told me he “wouldn’t be surprised” if I had a brain tumor, so I’m not really anxious about the results here - I see it kind of as all upside, I assume I currently have one, and if the result is clear, hey that’s one less fatal cancer I gotta worry about now.
From reading about brain tumors, I really haven’t had any symptoms - I had one extremely bad headache maybe a month ago and maybe twice I’ve had kind of a weird sensitivity to noon day light in past 3 months, but nothing else and these could really just be coincidences/getting old.
But for those praying/thinking/vibing for our family, today’s hope is a clear result!
